Seijitsu Alkido Ryu helps Allegiance lift the support for C.O.P.S. to over 1100

Seijitsu Alkido Ryu helps Allegiance lift the support for C.O.P.S. to over £1100.

At a meeting of Seijitsu Alkido Ryu W.Bro. Terry Bayliss explained how Bro Malcolm Walker a lodge member had lost his life while performing his duty as a police officer.

He explained how Malcolm's wife Helen had helped found a charity C.O.P.S. to support the dependents of police officers killed in the line of duty. He said that in memory of his father, Helen's son Sean Walker was doing a bike with the Police Unity Tour ride to raise money for C.O.P.S.

Following Terry's explanation, Seijitsu Alkido Ryu agreed to donate £500 to help Lodge of Allegiance support Sean's fundraising cycle ride.

Cancellation of Ladies Informal

Regrettably, our Ladies Informal planned for Saturday 30th June has had to be cancelled due to insufficient members having booked for the event.

This, unfortunately, has made the event financially unviable and therefore we have had to take this sad decision.

On 4th October 2001 a member of the lodge of Allegiance was killed in fulfilling his duty as a Police Officer. Nicholas Walters who had been released from prison on licence had stolen a car was being was pursued by the Police. Bro Walker (Mac) who was on duty as a Police Motorcyclist spotted Walters in a petrol station and began pursuit. In trying to stop the car in Birchfield Rd Perry Barr he was deliberately rammed by Walters and unfortunately lost his life.

Following the sad loss of her husband Mac's wife Helen became a founder member and trustee of C.O.P.S. (Care of Police Survivors) a charity that helps the families of officers who have fallen in the line of duty.

On the 27th July 2018 Mac and Helen's son Sean is taking part in The Police Unity Tour which is entering its 6th year, increasing awareness and honouring police officers who have died in the line of duty. The tour entails a 180 bike ride over 2 days and concludes at The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to coincide with COPS annual service.

Sean who is not a Police Officer is entering to raise money for C.O.P.S. in memory of his dad Mac, With agreement of the WM the lodge has donated £100.

Allegiance Skittles Night 2018

A superb night was enjoyed by 43 members, families and friends at this year's Allegiance Skittles night on Friday 30 March at the Walsall Arms.

Once again the women beat the men by 308 to 306, so a close and well fought contest. The WM is pictured with the individual winners.

Also on the night our octogenarian, Tony Davis, celebrated his birthday pictured attempting to blow out the candles.

Special thanks should go to Steve and his boss Carol for organising the event.

The evening was a tremendous success which raised £280 to the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.

This is another donation for this year to charity the others being so far:

Warwickshire Masonic Benevolent Fund - £300

Birmingham Caring Hearts - £120.00
